The Popular Party has once again been absent from the Sectoral Conference on Childhood and Adolescence, convened to address the situation of unaccompanied migrant minors, leading to its suspension.

The Madrid regional minister of Social Affairs, Ana Dávila, described the call as «illegal», thus justifying the absence of the regions governed by the PP. The meeting aimed to update the ordinary capacity of the autonomous communities' reception systems, a crucial issue for territories such as Canarias, Ceuta, and Melilla.

"It is absolutely regrettable that the PP, embracing Vox, continues to boycott the childhood policies of this country."

Sira Rego · Minister of Youth and Childhood
The Minister of Youth and Childhood, Sira Rego, downplayed the «snub», assuring that the autonomous communities «are considered informed» and that the central Executive will move forward with the decree law establishing the new ordinary capacity. This decree will continue its processing towards the Council of Ministers.
For his part, the Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Ángel Víctor Torres, urged Madrid to comply with current legality, as the transfer mechanism remains in place as long as the migratory contingency situation persists in the arrival territories. Torres described the boycott as «absolute institutional disloyalty, lack of respect, and an anti-democratic act».

"In a democratic state, the logical thing is to come, and if there is a protest, it should be made in the body created for that purpose."

Candelaria Delgado · Minister of Social Welfare of the Government of Canarias
The Minister of Social Welfare of the Government of Canarias, Candelaria Delgado, requested agility from the Government of Spain to approve the new decree law that updates the ordinary reception capacity. Canarias has transferred 719 unaccompanied migrant minors and currently cares for 3,337, exceeding its ordinary capacity of 2,211.
