This initiative, under the Social Services department, aims to provide recreational and educational alternatives while facilitating family conciliation. The project is supported by funding and collaboration from the Granadilla de Abona City Council, the Spanish Government, the Island Council of Tenerife, and the Amigos de Gillian Bank Association.
The Guaydil Day Center serves as a socio-educational support resource, particularly for minors and adolescents facing vulnerability or at risk of social exclusion. Its intervention seeks to reduce risk factors and promote the personal, educational, and social development of the participants.
During the summer, the program breaks the usual school routine, offering playful and educational experiences outside the daily environment, and responding to the interests expressed by the participants themselves. Activities are planned considering their needs and preferences, with a special emphasis on the children's involvement in choosing the proposals.
Scheduled activities for this summer include a swimming course, a day at Aqualand, visits to the Museum of Illusions and the Parque Marítimo, beach days, and activities at Canary Jump, concluding with a summer party at the center featuring inflatables and a barbecue.
The program benefits a total of 40 children and adolescents, as well as 21 families, who are accompanied by the center's educational team. The Granadilla de Abona City Council highlights the importance of continuing to strengthen these resources, which support children, adolescents, and families, fostering participation, coexistence, and personal development, especially during holiday periods.
