The municipality of Granadilla de Abona will host a training talk given by Miguel Assal, a recognized expert in prevention, self-protection, and safety. The event, aimed at reinforcing citizen training in emergency matters, will take place on October 31st at the auditorium of the SIEC, located in San Isidro.
The initiative, promoted by the Department of Emergencies and Civil Protection, led by José Sanabria, will offer practical knowledge for acting in the crucial first minutes of an emergency. Sanabria emphasized the importance of training so that residents "are capable of reacting with safety, judgment, and speed," underscoring that "prevention and training are life-saving tools."
This activity is part of a broader plan by the department to enhance the Emergencies and Civil Protection area. The choice of Miguel Assal is due to his "ability to communicate in a direct, dynamic, and easily understandable way," as well as his experience in adapting knowledge to "audiences of all ages."
Attendance at the talk is free, but capacity is limited and exclusively for residents registered in Granadilla de Abona. The registration period will be open from September 21st to October 16th, and must be completed through the municipal website. Access will not be permitted without prior registration.
José Sanabria encouraged residents to take advantage of this opportunity to acquire first aid and self-protection knowledge, emphasizing that "knowing how to act can completely change the outcome of a critical situation" and that "the first minutes count" in any emergency.
The department has carried out other actions such as talks in schools, self-protection workshops for volcanic risk, beachside workshops via a mobile classroom, and the updating of self-protection plans for public buildings. Additionally, investments have been made in equipment and training for the Civil Protection Group, with the aim of modernizing emergency management and promoting a culture of self-protection.
