The municipality of Santa Úrsula is advancing in the improvement of its infrastructure with the execution of renovation works on the Paseo Procesional. This action, with an awarded investment of 721,413.72 euros, aims to transform one of the most historically and patrimonially significant spaces in the urban center.
The intervention focuses on the area between the Church of Santa Úrsula and the Municipal Cemetery, specifically on Alcalde Fernando Luis street. The project seeks to enhance urban quality, reinforce accessibility, and reclaim this former processional path as a meeting point for citizens, comprehensively renovating an area of approximately 1,650 square meters.
The mayor of Santa Úrsula, Juan Acosta, highlighted the importance of these actions to "transform the municipality with initiatives that not only improve our infrastructure but also value the spaces that are part of our history and identity." He stated that the Paseo Procesional will be a place "more accessible, safe, and pleasant for residents and visitors, always respecting the heritage character of this environment."
This project addresses a need identified over years, evidenced by the existence of narrow or non-existent sidewalks, difficulties for reduced mobility, and accessibility issues to homes and public facilities. The current space was conditioned by traffic and vehicle parking, particularly around the health center and cemetery.
The renovation will create a single-platform urban space, more accessible and pedestrian-friendly, while maintaining the necessary functionality for the essential services of the Health Center and the Cemetery. New pavements, urban furniture, landscaped areas, improved lighting, and infrastructure renewal will be incorporated, preserving existing natural elements and the historical image of the surroundings.
This action is part of the municipal strategy to modernize public spaces, aiming to improve citizens' quality of life and reclaim emblematic locations in Santa Úrsula.
