The main objective of this aid is to facilitate the adaptation of local businesses to the requirements of Law 7/2022 on waste and circular economy. The initiative also aims to promote separate waste collection, reduce food waste, and improve business practices related to sustainability.
Beneficiaries of these subsidies, awarded through competitive bidding, will be those managing restaurant or retail food establishments based in Tacoronte. The application period will be open from September 1 to 30, 2026. Detailed information and annexes are published in the Official Gazette of Santa Cruz de Tenerife (BOP) and on the City Council's notice board.
Eduardo Dávila, head of Employment and Local Development, explained that the grants will be awarded based on objective criteria by a specific commission, evaluating waste management, waste reduction measures, and environmental management improvements. Individual subsidy amounts will range between 1,000 and 3,000 euros, depending on the establishment's size and activity type.
Dávila emphasized the planned agility in the resolution process so that beneficiaries can receive the aid this autumn, helping them offset the costs of adapting to state regulations. The Employment and Local Development Agency will offer personalized information and advice throughout September to assist with application completion.
Furthermore, a dedicated information meeting will be held soon to explain the participation process for self-employed individuals and businesses in the bar, cafe, restaurant, and food retail sectors.
