The Tacoronte City Council launches the sixth edition of the Historical Novel Festival this Thursday, November 5, with the presentation of the book 'Guanches. Tales of our ancestral world' and two exhibitions.

The Municipal House of Culture, located in the former San Agustín convent in Plaza del Cristo, will host the festival's first literary presentation. This features Guanches. Tales of our ancestral world (Le Canarien Ediciones, 2026) by José Farrujia de la Rosa, presented at 6:30 PM by Otto Farrujia.
The opening day also includes the inauguration of two exhibitions: Ilustradoras & Ilustradas (from the Comic Convention) at 5:30 PM and Indigenismo mágico by Roberto Perdomo, at 7:30 PM. Following this, at 7:30 PM, the fourth edition of the festival's express short film section, the Tacoronte Express Short Film Festival, directed this year by actress Elisa Cano, will be presented.
Guanches. Tales of our ancestral world is a work by historian José Farrujia that combines historical rigor and literary sensitivity to narrate the Canarian indigenous experience before and after the colonial irruption, exploring the Guanche worldview without idealization.
The exhibition Ilustradoras & Ilustradas, open until October 17, features 25 works by female Canarian artists and is part of the XXIII International Comic and Illustration Fair of Tenerife. Meanwhile, Indigenismo Mágico by Roberto F. Perdomo (Arrecife, Lanzarote), a Fine Arts graduate from the ULL, presents a retrospective of paintings and editorial illustrations that dialogue with island anthropology and ancestral geometry.
Author José Farrujia is a professor at the University of La Laguna (ULL) and holds a PhD in History, with numerous awards and publications on Canarian archaeology and heritage education.
All events are free to attend. The exhibition halls of the Municipal House of Culture are open Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM and from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
