The incident took place during the early hours of July 26. A patrol from the Prevention and Reaction Unit (UPR), which was conducting surveillance in the area, observed a brawl on a public street and intervened to restore order.
According to witness statements collected at the scene, the suspect approached people without provocation, displaying an imitation firearm. He then used a knife to threaten one of the witnesses, attempting to stab them, although the victim managed to dodge the attack.
Following a security search, officers seized both the knife and the imitation weapon. Database checks revealed that the individual, who has over 30 prior police records, was under a standing prohibition to carry weapons.
