The Melenara balneario in Telde reopens its doors this Friday after the completion of comprehensive renovation works, improving accessibility and functionality for users.

The Telde City Council, through the Department of Municipal Services, has announced the reopening of the Melenara balneario to the public this Friday. The facilities will resume their usual service after a complete renovation.
This action is part of the second and final phase of the Melenara promenade remodeling project. The intervention, promoted by the Department of Roads and Works, has a total investment of 1,128,232.35 euros and aims to transform one of the most emblematic spaces on the Telde coastline, improving its accessibility, functionality, and image.
Among the main new features of the balneario are adapted cabins for ostomized individuals, with specific spaces in both men's and women's restrooms. These areas are designed to facilitate hygiene and enhance the comfort of people with conditions such as Crohn's disease or oncological patients. The facilities also include new accessible bathrooms and showers, reinforcing the municipal commitment to inclusion.
Councilor Juan Martel highlighted that "the reopening of the balneario means recovering an essential service for the citizens on Melenara beach, now with completely renovated, more modern, accessible facilities adapted to the needs of all users." He added that "this action reflects the City Council's commitment to offering higher quality public services and continuing to improve the city's waterfront."
The complete project for improving the promenade includes the installation of new shaded areas, urban furniture, more efficient lighting, a renovated drainage system, bicycle racks, and a coastal landscaping plan. The children's play area has also been transformed, now featuring a maritime theme with a pirate ship.
The City Council has thanked residents and visitors for their understanding during the works and invites the public to once again enjoy the completely renovated balneario, which represents one of the main social and functional advancements of the comprehensive remodeling of the Melenara promenade.
