After reopening its doors at the end of July, the facilities have been used by residents and visitors throughout August, coinciding with the period of highest attendance on the Telde coastline. The Telde City Council, through the Department of Municipal Services, assesses these first weeks positively.
The renovation has modernized and made more functional the restrooms, showers, and other areas, prioritizing accessibility and comfort. Among the new features are two specific cabins for ostomized individuals, one in the men's and one in the women's restrooms, designed to offer greater privacy and facilitate personal care.
The City Council emphasizes the importance of these well-maintained public services in meeting the daily needs of beach users. The bathhouse, which constantly serves swimmers, families, and athletes, is a key facility throughout the day.
“"The most important thing after a renovation is to verify that what has been done works and is useful for the citizens. These first weeks are allowing us to see the positive response to the new bathhouse and, above all, that we have much more dignified, accessible, and prepared facilities for everyone."
Juan Martel added that "Melenara has enormous activity throughout the year, especially in summer, so having quality public services was a necessity. Now it's up to all of us to take care of them so they remain in the best condition for a long time."
The bathhouse rehabilitation is part of the second phase of the Melenara promenade renovation, a comprehensive project costing 1,128,232.35 euros, promoted by the Department of Public Works. The project, covering 3,081 square meters, includes new shaded areas, urban furniture, improvements to lighting and drainage, bicycle racks, landscaping, and the transformation of the maritime-themed children's playground.
The Department of Municipal Services will continue to monitor the bathhouse's operation, paying special attention to cleaning and maintenance. The City Council calls for collective care of these free, public facilities.
The renovation joins other services in Melenara, such as lifeguard and assisted bathing services, and the Biblioplaya (Beach Library), consolidating the beach as a significant meeting and leisure space on the Telde coastline.
