Las Palmas' Guaguas volleyball team is seeing Cuban player Osmany Juantorena depart, as he has decided not to renew his contract to sign with a Saudi Arabian league club following an unmatchable economic offer.

Following their recent Superliga title win, the Canary Islands club was already planning for the upcoming season with the aim of retaining the team's core. However, one of their key players, Osmany Juantorena, has announced his decision not to continue. The Cuban volleyball player has received an economic offer from Saudi Arabia that Guaguas cannot match, forcing his departure despite an initial agreement for his renewal.
Juantorena's departure, whose performance has been deemed differential and crucial for the team, represents a significant setback for coach Juan Ruiz's plans. The club had hoped to keep him alongside other important players such as Walla, De Amo, Larrañaga, Nico Bruno, and Martín Ramos.
Financial considerations are also impacting other players. Matt Knigge will also not return to the team, having received a more advantageous offer from Poland. Additionally, Helder Spencer is moving to Greece. Guaguas now faces the challenge of reinventing itself and completing the squad, although Ruiz is already exploring alternatives to ensure the highest competitive level.
