The awards ceremony will take place on June 23rd, coinciding with the city's founding festivities. These recognitions aim to highlight the contribution of various profiles, ranging from artists and athletes to health and social institutions, to the development and identity of the city.
Among the entities and figures receiving the Gold Medal are benchmarks in the cultural, business, and social spheres. The list includes a renowned musical artist, the naval company Astican, Hospital San José, the Piel Sana Foundation, the Bientratar Association, the Coral Cantata of Club Victoria, the Federation of Folk Groups of Gran Canaria, the soft drink brand Clipper, and the Artemi Cultural and Folk Association.
In the category of favorite children, the council has distinguished an orchestra conductor who promotes music-social projects, a nationally recognized dancer and choreographer, a professional footballer trained in the capital, and, posthumously, a multidisciplinary artist and pop culture icon.
Finally, the title of adopted children will be awarded to a science communicator, a long-standing UNICEF volunteer, a head of pulmonology with extensive international experience, and a university professor who was a pioneer in physical education and exercise physiology.
