The Telde City Council organized a cultural and social gathering day at the Tenefé Salt Flats for the municipality's seniors, coinciding with the celebration of the International Day of Older Persons.

Participants had the opportunity to explore this site, part of Gran Canaria's ethnographic heritage, and learn about the traditional salt production method. During the guided tour, the processes and phases involved in making this product were detailed.
The event also fostered social interaction, offering a space to share snacks and enjoy a relaxed atmosphere. As a memento, each attendee received a jar of fleur de sel.
Adela Álvarez, the Social Services councilor, accompanied the group and highlighted the importance of initiatives that integrate leisure, culture, and active participation. "We want our seniors to enjoy, participate, and continue discovering places and experiences that are part of our heritage. These excursions are also a wonderful opportunity to socialize and enjoy a different day together. From Social Services, we will continue working to promote activities that favor active aging and the participation of our seniors," she stated.
This visit to the Tenefé Salt Flats is the second of three excursions planned by the Social Services department for the International Day of Older Persons, celebrated on October 1st. The program aims to offer cultural and leisure experiences that promote encounters and social relationships among the municipality's older residents.
The third and final activity is scheduled for September 24th, with a visit to Poema del Mar, a space dedicated to the marine world, which will offer another day of leisure and social gathering.
Through this program, the Telde City Council reinforces its commitment to organizing activities for the municipality's seniors, creating meeting spaces that encourage their participation, enjoyment of free time, and access to cultural and leisure offerings.
