The new online Psychology degree at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) has generated considerable anticipation, already accumulating 165 pre-registrations for the 80 available spots in its early phase. This data pertains to the pre-registration aimed at students taking the University Entrance Exam (PAU), and demand is expected to increase significantly with the opening of the ordinary pre-registration period on June 12th.
This degree, one of the most anticipated by students, is now a reality after years of efforts by the academic institution, which had been seeking to offer it since 2010. The Vice-Rector of Students at ULPGC, David Sánchez, has indicated that current demand already doubles the offering and anticipates even greater interest once the general registration opens.
The degree will be taught through Tele-education, from the center located on the Obelisco campus. ULPGC had attempted to launch this degree in previous years, but administrative procedures delayed its implementation. The upcoming PAU exams, from June 2nd to 5th, will precede the announcement of the official cut-off grade for the program.
In addition to Psychology, ULPGC is launching three new master's degrees this academic year: in African Studies, Business Administration and Management (MBA), and Digital Technologies in the Green Economy (Green Tech). A new degree in Geography, Territorial Sciences, and Environment is also being introduced, representing a substantial reform of the current Geography and Territorial Planning degree. Furthermore, the existing degrees in Business Administration and Management (ADE) and Tourism are gaining new specializations, and the Master's in Marketing has been transformed into Marketing and Digital Strategies.
