The Port Authority of Las Palmas has consolidated its position as a logistics and services platform in the Mid-Atlantic during the first half of 2026. These results follow a 2025 that closed with record figures in its activity indicators.
The total merchandise traffic for the five ports of the Port Authority increased by +0.40%, totaling 16,328,140 tons compared to the same period last year. Passenger traffic experienced a growth of +4.26%, with 1,962,979 passengers compared to 1,882,861 in 2025.
The president of Puertos de Las Palmas, Beatriz Calzada, highlighted that these results should be interpreted considering the international context, marked by tensions in maritime corridors, route reorganization, and volatility in oil product prices. These factors have affected container traffic and fuel bunkering.
In detail, frozen fish soared by +52.75% (193,540 tons), and fresh fish grew by +16.13% (324 tons). TEU units increased by +3.20% (762,663 units), and Ro-Ro traffic rose by +3.36% in units (191,758) and +5.63% in tons (2,946,219).
Meanwhile, fuel traffic decreased by -5.37% (1,299,441 tons), and general containerized cargo decreased by -3.32% (7,738,987 tons).
Broken down by port, the Port of Las Palmas registered a slight decrease of -0.25% (15,514,552 tons). The Port of Arrecife increased its traffic by +3.28% (1,015,118 tons), while the Port of Puerto del Rosario decreased by -0.36% (824,873 tons). The Port of Salinetas increased by +17.68% (336,049 tons), and the Port of Arinaga decreased by -1.62% (130,471 tons).
Specifically at the Port of Las Palmas, cruise passenger traffic increased by +15.96%, offsetting the -4.08% decrease in regular line passenger traffic. Total passenger traffic at this port grew by +5.24%, with 1,252,270 passengers.
Merchandise volume at the Port of Las Palmas saw a slight decrease of -0.02% (14,058,782 tons). Frozen fish increased by a notable +53.80% (190,796 tons), while fresh fish decreased by -23.08% (10 tons).
