The night of the Melenara Fireworks will feature a significant reinforcement of public transport. The company Global has organized 49 extraordinary trips on line 75, connecting Las Palmas de Gran Canaria with the coastal area of Telde. The aim is to facilitate access and departure for the thousands of attendees expected for this summer event.
The reinforcement operation will begin several hours before the pyrotechnic show, scheduled around midnight. Between 17:30 and 23:15 on Saturday, August 29th, 23 additional services will run from the Gran Canarian capital towards Melenara. These extraordinary schedules supplement the regular service to meet high demand.
Line 75, which passes through locations such as La Garita, Hoya del Pozo, Playa del Hombre, and Taliarte before reaching Melenara, will see its frequency significantly increased. The additional departures will allow attendees to arrive on time to enjoy the festival with Star Music, starting at 22:00, and the pyrotechnic display.
Following the fireworks, the return service will be notably intensified. From 00:30 on Sunday, August 30th, 26 extraordinary return services to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria are scheduled. During the early morning hours, there will be departures approximately every five minutes, covering the period between 00:30 and 01:00.
The last additional return service from Melenara will depart at 04:45 on Sunday, ensuring transport options until nearly five hours after the estimated start of the fireworks. Global recommends checking service information for any potential operational changes.
The Telde City Council warns that the fireworks start time, estimated around 00:00, is approximate and may be influenced by AENA authorizations due to the proximity of Gran Canaria Airport, as well as prevailing safety conditions.
Specific safety recommendations have been issued for residents in Taliarte, whose homes are closest to the launch area. It is advised to avoid staying on balconies, terraces, and rooftops, and to keep doors and windows facing outwards closed between approximately 23:45 and 00:45, or until the show concludes.
This public transport reinforcement is crucial given the high concentration of people this celebration traditionally attracts. The availability of extraordinary services before and after the event offers an alternative to private vehicles for enjoying a crowded night.
