The Telde City Council will implement security measures at Melenara beach starting Friday, August 28, restricting access to the pier area for the preparation of Saturday's fireworks.

The Telde council has announced the security measures that will be activated at Melenara beach for the preparations and celebration of the traditional fireworks night, scheduled for Saturday, August 29. These measures were discussed at the Security Meeting held on Tuesday, August 25, involving the bodies and services participating in the special operation for one of the busiest days of the Melenara festivities.
At the request of the security forces, from 6:00 PM on Friday, August 28, the area closest to the pier and the Neptuno surroundings will be fenced off and access restricted. This measure coincides with the necessary operations for the unloading, transfer, and preparation of the pyrotechnic material to be used in Saturday's show. The purpose of this demarcation is to guarantee safety conditions during the preliminary work and prevent unauthorized access to the explosives installation area.
Furthermore, on Saturday, August 29, and Sunday, August 30, the channel designated for swimming and boat access in this area of Melenara will be inoperative. This restriction is based on preventive and safety criteria related to the assembly, celebration, and subsequent removal of the pyrotechnic device.
The Councilor for Security of the Telde City Council, Miguel Rodríguez, has requested the cooperation of residents, bathers, and coastal users, emphasizing the importance of “always respecting the fencing, signage, and instructions from the Local Police, Civil Protection, and other deployed personnel”.
Rodríguez explained that this is a preventive action within the extensive operation prepared to ensure the safe development of a night that brings together thousands of people. “We ask for understanding regarding the temporary limitations that will occur in this part of the beach. The priority is to guarantee safety during the unloading and preparation of the pyrotechnic material, as well as during the celebration itself and subsequent tasks,” added the municipal official.
The City Council reminds that restrictions are limited to the marked areas and the established period, and urges citizens to follow the instructions of the security and emergency services, avoiding access to the fenced-off zones at all times. The special operation will continue to be coordinated in the coming days due to the high expected public attendance for Saturday night in Melenara.
