The young talent from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, artistically known as UO, has found in music a fundamental space to communicate his emotions. Since the age of 12, composition became his tool to express what he found difficult to verbalize, a practice he continues at 22.
“"Music for me is my refuge, my escape route, my getaway. Just as it brings me much sorrow and disappointment, it also brings me much joy and motivation."
UO's passion for music has deep roots in his family environment. His father, a great enthusiast, comes from a family with a musical tradition, while his mother instilled in him a more spiritual perspective on vibrations and the impact of music on people's moods. This combination of influences has shaped a style that transcends labels, integrating genres such as bachata, Mexican rancheras, and boleros in his EP Los Casettes de abuelo.
The artist views his participation in events like Bambastic not as pressure, but as a valuable opportunity to showcase his work and that of his team. He emphasizes the importance of his collaborators, whom he considers essential for the development of his musical project, stressing that his success is a collective effort.
UO also critically reflects on the space given to local talent in major cultural programs. While not rejecting the presence of external artists, he advocates for greater promotion of creators from the islands, arguing that there is great potential and diversity that is often limited by prejudices about musical genres accepted in festive or commercial contexts.
Despite his youth, the artist approaches the music industry with maturity, acknowledging its commercial logic but insisting on the importance of maintaining authenticity. His goal is to create music that reflects real experiences and resonates with his audience, without sacrificing his essence for market trends. He announces a brief break to continue working on his vision and that of his team, aiming for his music to be an experience lived by those who listen to it.
