The Telde City Council, through the Councillor for Physical Activity and Sports, Cristhian Santana Caballero, has officially congratulated footballer Misa Rodríguez on her call-up to the national squad. The player, originally from Telde and currently with Arsenal FC, will participate in two international friendly matches against the United States team, recognized as the reigning Olympic champions and four-time World champions.
Santana Caballero highlighted that Misa's presence in the senior national team is a source of pride for Telde and reflects the high level of women's sports in the municipality. He also emphasized that her career and performance at the international elite level solidify her role as a benchmark for young athletes in the area.
The team, managed by Sonia Bermúdez, has called up 25 players. The training camp will commence on Monday, October 5th, at the Ciudad del Fútbol de Las Rozas. Subsequently, the national squad will travel to the United States on Tuesday, October 6th, heading to Washington D.C., to play the first match on Saturday, October 10th, at the Audi Field.
The second match will take place after the team's relocation to Pennsylvania. Spain will once again face the United States in the early hours of Tuesday, October 13th, into Wednesday, October 14th, at Subaru Park in Chester, a town located approximately 27 kilometers from Philadelphia.
These two international fixtures mark the beginning of a new sporting cycle that will culminate with the FIFA Women's World Cup Brazil 2027, scheduled from June 24th to July 25th. The double-header represents a maximum-challenge encounter against one of the world's leading forces in women's football. Historically, Spain and the United States have met four times, with three victories for the North American team and one for the Spanish squad.
