The Telde City Council has finalized the contracting process to repair deteriorated traffic lights in the municipality and continues with the tender for a specific service for the maintenance and replacement of the traffic light network.
The first intervention will focus on the traffic light at Poeta Pablo Neruda, near the Municipal Market, which was destroyed following a traffic accident. The project includes the supply and installation of all necessary elements for its correct functioning, such as the pole, the traffic light head, supports, electronic components, power supply, and base.
The Department of Traffic and Signaling, headed by Miguel Rodríguez, points out that this action responds to a broader need, as the council has lacked a specific traffic light maintenance contract for years and does not have the material resources or specialized personnel to carry out this work directly.
This situation requires contracting specialized companies through procurement procedures to address breakdowns, damage, and replacement needs in the network.
The Department is working on two fronts: on one hand, actions are being processed and executed for urgent incidents and the recovery of damaged elements. On the other hand, progress is being made in the tender for a maintenance and replacement contract to establish a stable and specialized service that allows for planned action.
Among the areas requiring attention are various locations in Jinámar, the connection to Colegio José Tejera, the vicinity of the Municipal Market, Daora, and other intersections in the municipality.
The tender file is currently with the Intervention area and, after the relevant reports, will be submitted to the Local Government Board for approval of the specifications. Subsequently, the procedure will be published on the Contractor's Profile to allow specialized companies to compete.
The objective is to move from a model of one-off interventions for breakdowns to a stable maintenance and replacement service, which includes preventive actions and a faster response to incidents, ensuring the proper functioning of the municipal traffic light network.
The councilor for Traffic and Signaling, Miguel Rodríguez, has highlighted the importance of unblocking this prolonged situation. "I want to especially thank the work being done by the Department, and particularly the Head of Service and the technical staff, because behind every action there is an administrative and technical process that we must complete to be able to intervene with all guarantees," he stated.
Rodríguez added: "We have started by addressing the situations that require the most immediate response, but we are aware that the solution lies in having a stable contract that allows us to maintain and replace the municipality's traffic light network".
"Jinámar, the area around Colegio José Tejera, the Municipal Market, Daora, and other points in the municipality need action, and we are working to ensure they can be addressed in an orderly manner with global planning," he added.
Rodríguez emphasized: "the goal is for Telde to move beyond a model of occasional repairs and have a specialized service that allows traffic lights to be kept in adequate condition throughout the year".
The Department also thanks the work carried out by the Head of Service and the municipal technical teams in identifying existing needs and preparing the necessary files to respond to them.
