The El Rosario City Council welcomed two major figures in national and international Nordic walking: Izaskun Bengoa (Bilbao) and Pedro Romero (Navarra). Both athletes, current Spanish champions and European champions in Romero's case, will participate this Saturday, October 31st, in the V Finca Don Leandro Nordic Walking Meeting 2026.
The Councilor for Sports, Juan Jesús del Rosario, welcomed both athletes at a reception also attended by members of the organizing committee and the Insular Federation of Mountaineering.
Finca Don Leandro, located in Las Lagunetas, will become the epicenter of this sport. The event will gather practitioners and top-level athletes and will be the second scoring event of the 2026 Canary Islands Nordic Walking Cup.
The event will have a special incentive with the celebration of the first Tenerife Nordic Walking Championship. It is organized by the Insular Federation of Mountaineering of Tenerife and CD Vallivana, with the collaboration of the El Rosario City Council.
