A robbery in a private garage in the Cruz del Señor area of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has caused alarm among residents. The perpetrators stole valuables and caused significant damage to at least 19 vehicles, smashing windows and tipping over all parked motorcycles.
On Wednesday morning, users of a private parking lot near the church in Cruz del Señor were met with the unpleasant scene. According to resident testimonies, the thieves accessed the premises, smashing multiple car windows and overturning motorcycles.
“"I don't know if what they stole had much or little value, but I do know they stole everything they could from the cars, especially some taxis. They caused a lot of damage to the car windows and threw the motorcycles down."
This incident reignites fear in the community, as it is not the first time it has happened. Last year, the same resident was a victim of a robbery in the same garage. After that event, security cameras were installed, which may now help identify those responsible.
The robberies are not limited to Cruz del Señor. Residents of the El Toscal neighborhood have also reported similar incidents in at least five garages on streets such as San Vicente Ferrer, Santa Rosalía, and San Miguel. It is suspected that the thieves take advantage of the moment when the garage's automatic door has not fully closed after a vehicle enters or exits to slip through.
Police sources have confirmed that an investigation is ongoing to clarify these robberies, identify the perpetrators, and determine if there is a connection between the incidents in both areas of Santa Cruz. In the meantime, residents are advised to exercise extreme caution and ensure garage doors close completely.
