The countdown to the official start of the summer season has begun in Santa Cruz de Tenerife with an event set to energize the capital's center. The second edition of the Summer Welcome is preparing to transform the Port esplanade on Friday, June 19th. This large-scale event will merge gastronomy, commercial promotion, and major live musical performances, anticipating the gathering of over 5,000 people in one of the city's most iconic coastal areas. The initiative, coordinated by the Sociedad de Desarrollo and the Zona Centro association, aims to establish itself as a major attraction for the municipality.
The economic impact of the event is already being felt by local businesses. A total of 78 commercial, catering, and nightlife establishments have officially joined this special campaign, which proposes a week of comprehensive revitalization (from June 15th to 21st) with the city decorated and filled with a festive atmosphere to encourage consumption. The mayor of the Tenerife capital has confirmed that the deadline for new businesses to join the digital platform is this Wednesday, June 17th, at 12:00 PM.
The main hub for Friday's festivities will be located at the port complex. Doors will officially open at 7:00 PM, with shows commencing at 8:00 PM. The concert area will have a controlled capacity for 4,500 spectators and will be free to enter until full. The musical lineup will be headlined by performances from DJ Brito, the renowned group Estrellas Buena Vista, and the orchestra Maquinaria Band, among other invited artists.
The organization has implemented strict safety and consumption protocols. Bringing food or drinks from outside into the concert area is prohibited. Beverage distribution bars will be available within the concert grounds. The only exception will be for attendees with reserved seating in the designated dinner section.
Spaces for the 'Dinner in White' event sold out within minutes. This gastronomic area will feature modular tables for groups of four, six, eight, and ten diners. Attendees with validated reservations can bring their own food or order special menus from restaurants affiliated with the Degusta Santa Cruz Product Club. The administration will provide complete tableware (plates, glasses, and cutlery).
The involvement of commercial districts is divided into three main sectors: Commerce and Beauty (39 establishments), Catering (36 establishments), and Nightlife (3 establishments). Businesses such as Luxala Shop, Sal y Lava, De Pincho en Pincho, La Herradura, Gastrobar Cortxo, Café Teatro Picú, and Urban 180 will offer special promotions and exclusive deals.
The CEO of the Sociedad de Desarrollo, Carmen Pérez, stated that the main objective is to emulate the concept of major international summer events, collectively creating a visual theme where attendees' white attire serves as a unifying element alongside the sea breeze and local gastronomy.
