A total of fourteen resident physicians (MIR) have completed their five-year Specialized Health Training period this July at the University Hospital Complex of Canarias (HUC), affiliated with the Ministry of Health of the Government of Canarias. During this time, they have acquired the necessary competencies to practice the profession autonomously.
These professionals have trained in specialties such as Cardiology, General and Digestive Surgery, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthopedic and Trauma Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Intensive Care Medicine, Internal Medicine, Neurosurgery, and Medical Oncology.
During the ceremony, the medical director, José Antonio García, congratulated the residents on completing their training period, thanking them for "their work, dedication, and humanity." Also present were the Director of Human Resources, Avelina Díaz, the Head of Studies for Specialized Health Training, Beatriz Rodríguez, and the tutors and heads of services from the respective Teaching Units.
At the same gathering, the Mention and Excellence awards were presented to 47 residents of Specialized Health Training who finished in May and July, and who stood out for their clinical, teaching, and research competencies.

The residents awarded with the Excellence prize were Alejandro de la Paz (Internal Medicine), Alba Armas (Medical Oncology), Miguel Quetglas (Dermatology), and Marta Díaz (Hematology). The Positive Outstanding Recognition with Special Mention was awarded to Alejandro Herrera, a resident in Orthopedic and Trauma Surgery.
The HUC, open since 1971, maintains significant undergraduate and postgraduate teaching activity, receiving doctors for their training.
