During this summer period, with over 104 million trips expected, authorities are reminding drivers that driving without a valid Technical Inspection of Vehicles (ITV) poses a road safety risk and leads to financial penalties. It is mandatory for cars and motorcycles to pass this inspection within the established deadlines.
Vehicles registered in 2022, specifically those with license plate series between LVV and MDF, must undergo their first technical inspection in 2026 as they reach four years of age. After passing the test, it is essential to place the V-19 sticker in the upper right corner of the windshield to facilitate verification by officers.
Current regulations state that every driver must have three fundamental documents available for officers: the registration certificate, the driving license, and the ITV card. Failure to carry these documents or non-compliance with the technical inspection can result in fines ranging from 100 to 500 euros, and may lead to vehicle immobilization in the most serious cases.
