Aspiring teachers participated this Friday in the mandatory presentation ceremony and submitted their teaching programs, a crucial step to be eligible for one of the 686 positions offered for this body. A total of 7,912 individuals are admitted for these roles, with venues spread across all islands.
At the IES Ana Luisa Benítez campus in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, candidates for the Early Childhood Education specialty gathered. This specialty faces the highest competition, with 2,797 applicants vying for 110 positions. The submission of the teaching program is vital, as it will be defended before tribunals if the first exam is passed, a requirement incorporated in the 2025 call.
Mónica Ramírez, Director General of Personnel for the Regional Ministry of Education, highlighted the offer for Special Educational Needs (Pedagogía Terapéutica) with 120 positions, the second-largest specialty, due to the increasing need for specialists to support students with educational needs. The offer for Primary Education includes 215 positions, distributed among specialties such as English (91), Physical Education (65), Music (37), Speech and Language Therapy (25), and French (23).
The selection process is expected to conclude in approximately a month and a half, with successful candidates being appointed as trainee teachers on September 1st, coinciding with the start of the new academic year.
In addition to the teacher oppositions, this year sees 192 positions being offered for Secondary Education teachers across ten specialties, seven positions in Official Language Schools, 15 for Schools of Plastic Arts and Design, 21 for specialists in Singular Vocational Training Sectors, 15 for Music and Performing Arts, and 9 for professors in the latter body.
Out of the total 10,363 applicants admitted to all these selection processes, 1,520 are from outside the Canary Islands, representing 14.67% of the total.
