The incident, which took place last Wednesday near a well-known holiday apartment complex, was initially reported by the British tabloid Daily Mail. The victim, who was celebrating his birthday on the island with his wife, was reportedly approached by an individual intending to steal his belongings.
As a result of the severe impact, the elderly man suffered cardiac arrest in the street. Emergency services from the Canary Emergency Service (SUC) managed to revive him at the scene before his urgent transfer to the hospital, where he ultimately could not overcome the consequences of his serious injuries.
