Santa Cruz de La Palma has welcomed autumn and the new cruise season by updating the image installed at the city's Km. 0. This emblematic reference point, one of the first that visitors encounter, features a new visual proposal aimed at highlighting the capital's landscape and urban values.
The new installation showcases a photograph of the city and its surroundings created by artist Abián San Gil, a native of Fuencaliente de La Palma born in 1995. The artwork offers an artistic perspective, transforming this space into a showcase of local identity.
This initiative is part of the City Council's strategy to maintain and update its tourist welcome points, especially with the arrival of the new cruise season, which is expected to bring around 500,000 passengers.
“"Km. 0 is much more than a reference point. It is one of the first spaces many people encounter when they arrive in Santa Cruz de La Palma, and therefore, we want it to also be a presentation card for our city."
Tourism Councilor Saray González emphasized that the new image allows the season to be welcomed with a "different perspective" on Santa Cruz de La Palma, highlighting its identity and landscape. She stressed the importance of featuring the talent of a local creator like Abián San Gil to showcase the island's art.
With this renovation, the city faces the start of autumn and the peak cruise season with a renewed reference space that invites both visitors and residents to view the city from an artistic viewpoint, showcasing the creative talent of La Palma.
