The fourth edition of the Firgas Big Band Festival has concluded with resounding success, attracting over 800 people and reaffirming its standing as a prominent musical event in Gran Canaria. The Villa de Firgas was filled with music, local talent, and big band formations hailing from Gran Canaria, Tenerife, and Madrid.
The audience, comprising both adults and children, enjoyed a program divided into several sessions. Notable performances included renowned Canarian vocalists such as Cristina Ramos, Arístides Moreno, Manolo Estupiñán, and Patricia Muñoz. The musical lineup was further enriched by the participation of four distinguished big bands: Soler Jazz Band from Madrid, Sax Pack Big Band and 101 Brass Band from Tenerife, and the host band, Gran Canaria Big Band.
The morning session kicked off with the unique saxophone-focused performance by Sax Pack Big Band. This was followed by the Soler Jazz Band, composed of young musicians from the CIM Padre Antonio Sóler, who impressed with their high artistic level, highlighting the importance of integrated music centers.
In the afternoon, Arístides Moreno and the 101 Brass Band delivered a vibrant and humorous performance that had the large crowd dancing. The festival's closing act was the Gran Canaria Big Band with their show ‘Canariedad’, which blended music with three of the archipelago's most acclaimed voices: Cristina Ramos, Manuel Estupiñán, and Patricia Muñoz.
The festival also featured parallel educational activities, organized in collaboration with IES Firgas and the Asociación Mousiké, aimed at fostering musical training among young people. The organizing team is already planning the fifth edition, which will celebrate the event's anniversary.
