The town of Teror is preparing to host the second edition of the 'Timple Pilgrimage' on September 12, an event that will bring together numerous performers and enthusiasts of this traditional Canarian instrument in a musical procession through its streets.

This initiative, promoted by the Canarian Nanino Díaz Cutillas Foundation and the Teror City Council, seeks to consolidate this annual gathering that highlights the sound heritage of the Canary Islands. The musical journey will begin on Calle Real and culminate in Plaza de Sintes, to the rhythm of the song 'De Tenderete'.
The pilgrimage will serve as a prelude to the concerts of the XXXVII Teresa de Bolívar Music Encounter, part of the cultural program for the Fiestas del Pino 2026. The organization has emphasized that the main objective is to encourage mass participation of timple players, performing a popular piece composed by Elfidio Alonso, associated with the group Los Sabandeños.
To facilitate the inclusion of musicians of all skill levels, the chosen song is based on a simple chord progression (D major, G major, and A7). This allows both students and amateurs to join without extensive prerequisites, beyond bringing their own instrument. An explanatory video with the chords and selected songs will be released and also distributed to music schools in Gran Canaria for pre-event rehearsals.
The first edition, held last year, saw the participation of 300 timple players and a large audience. With this second call, the 'Timple Pilgrimage' aims to establish itself as an annual event of tradition, learning, and musical coexistence, contributing to the dissemination of Canarian culture.
