The Department of Works of the Arrecife City Council has brought forward the resurfacing works on Vía Medular to November. Mayor Yonathan de León has coordinated with the contractor of the Fourth Municipal Resurfacing Plan to finish the works on this strategic artery before the Christmas shopping season.
In parallel, the company responsible for the stormwater drainage network along a section of Vía Medular will concrete the cover for the new pipe, previously non-existent in this area prone to flooding.
Next Sunday, the 8th, work will take place on the section of Vía Medular near the courthouses. The planning aims to minimize the impact on traffic and the significant administrative, commercial, and sporting activity, by carrying out works on Sundays to reduce inconvenience.
These works complement those already carried out at the beginning of Vía Medular, near the Thematic Park and the Reducto esplanade.
Regarding Jacinto Borges street, resurfacing is scheduled for the second half of November. The works, connecting the areas of Charco de San Ginés and the El Lomo neighborhood, had been delayed due to difficulties found in the subsoil during the installation of the stormwater drainage network.
During the installation of the stormwater drainage network in Jacinto Borges, numerous unconnected sewage outlets and leaks in the water supply network were discovered, causing discharges into the subsoil near the Charco de San Ginés. The Mayor informed the Water Consortium and Canal Gestión of these anomalies, whose delay in repairing their networks was ultimately completed by the Consortium this summer.
Once these serious deficiencies in the underground networks were rectified, the City Council has proceeded with the completion of municipal works, such as asphalting and the stormwater drainage system. Actions concerning water supply and sewage networks are legally the responsibility of the Water Consortium.
The City Council decided to wait until the end of the summer season for the resurfacing of Jacinto Borges, which is important for the hospitality sector of Charco de San Ginés. Recently, the asphalt renewal of Calle Juan de Quesada, another access road for residents and businesses in the Ribera del Charco, has been completed.
