The sanitary facilities at the Arrecife Theme Park, located near El Reducto beach, will be available for public use starting this Thursday, August 27, 2026. These restrooms had remained closed and in a state of disrepair since 2018, the year the City Council lost the administrative concession for the land reclaimed from the sea where the park, built in the 1990s, is situated.
Following the concession's expiration, the City Council initiated a new process to obtain it again. Recently, the Canary Islands Community, which holds coastal management responsibilities, has announced the approval of the new concession for this extensive area of nearly 40,000 square meters.
The mayor of Arrecife and head of the Public Works Department, Yonathan de León, has overseen the repair, adaptation, and cleaning work carried out by municipal workers. The comprehensive renovation of the restrooms is now complete, as is the improvement of the surrounding plaza area.
The public restroom area, which includes an accessible toilet, will serve both residents and visitors. Its proximity to the Guaguas Interchange and the new public terrace, intended for family enjoyment, makes it particularly significant. Additionally, the restrooms will support the renovated children's playground, which has been expanded and made accessible during this term.

During a meeting with the press at the Theme Park itself, Yonathan de León highlighted the recovery of this space, showing images of the deterioration it had suffered since 2018. The mayor also announced future projects for the area, including the tender in 2027 for a major project to create a green lung and new public use areas within the Theme Park.
De León concluded by expressing his commitment to continue transforming the city, addressing the numerous deficiencies and maintenance needs in various public spaces across Arrecife.
