The highway section between the airport and the Pozo Negro crossing in Fuerteventura, with a budget of 215 million euros, will be awarded next week by the contracting board. This award will allow construction work to commence this year, 2026.
This is the first timeline for several pending road projects that the Minister of Public Works of the Canary Islands Government, Pablo Rodríguez, announced during his visit to the island.
Regarding another pending section of the highway, five kilometers long between the Guisguey and Cuesta de Perico roundabouts, which was scheduled for completion in March 2025, Rodríguez is confident it will be finished during 2026, even suggesting it could be ready as early as this summer.
Additionally, the regional minister informed that the entire La Caldereta-airport highway section, currently under construction, is expected to be completed by early 2027.
