A total of 17 workers are participating in this project, focused on the recovery of museums, cultural centers, and other historical enclaves. The main objective is to protect the memory and identity of Fuerteventura, while simultaneously boosting local employment. The Minister of Employment Promotion, Nuria Cabrera, highlighted the 17.5 million euro investment made by the Council in employment plans aimed at sectors facing insertion difficulties since the beginning of the legislature.
The ‘Memoria Viva’ plan has a specific investment of 472,000 euros. Minister Nuria Cabrera also emphasized the coordination with Museums of Fuerteventura and the collaboration of local councils to act on various sites of the island's historical heritage.
Currently, the work focuses on the cleaning, exterior painting, environmental adaptation, and structural consolidation of the churches of Tetir (Puerto del Rosario) and Antigua. Recently, cleaning, wood restoration, and painting work was completed on the Molino de Los Valles de Ortega, in the municipality of Antigua.
Other interventions include the Casa Alta de Tindaya (La Oliva), where cleaning, interior and exterior painting, restoration of door and window carpentry, and interior courtyard conditioning are being carried out. Likewise, access improvements, restoration, and beautification are underway at the Interpretation Center of the Jandía Natural Park - Punta de Jandía Lighthouse (Pájara).
This employment plan is co-financed between the Cabildo of Fuerteventura and the Government of the Canary Islands, with resources from the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN).
