The Cabildo of Fuerteventura has renewed its agreement with Padilla Supermercados Spar for the Neuromajo initiative, adding the collaboration of Barceló Hotel Group and Dany Sport for the 2026-2027 season, promoting active lifestyles for seniors.

The Cabildo of Fuerteventura and the Asociación Neurolímpica have formalized the renewal of the agreement with Padilla Supermercados Spar for the 2026-2027 season. This collaboration is part of the Neuromajo project, an initiative promoted by the Department of Social Action in conjunction with the island's six municipalities and the aforementioned association, under the program ‘Fuerteventura, for a healthy old age’.
Through this agreement, Padilla Supermercados Spar will continue to provide discount cards for the purchase of healthy and essential products to participants. In the previous edition, the program facilitated over 5,000 shopping transactions, resulting in savings of approximately 20,000 euros for the island's seniors.
The signing of the agreement was attended by the president of the Cabildo, Lola García; the Minister of Social Action, Víctor Alonso; the president of the Asociación Neurolímpica, Besay Rodríguez; and the representative of Padilla Supermercados Spar, Juan Alberto Padilla.
Furthermore, the incorporation of Barceló Hotel Group into the 2026-2027 season of Neuromajo was announced, represented by the director of Hotel Occidental Jandía Playa, Tomás de Vera. This collaboration will enable the creation of discount codes for participants at the chain's establishments and will assist in organizing accommodation for attendees of NeuroCanarias 2026, to be held in Morro Jable in November.
President Lola García expressed her pride in the continued development of the Neuromajo project, thanking the involvement of monitors, the Asociación Neurolímpica, and the municipalities, highlighting that Fuerteventura is the only island with the participation of all its municipalities. She emphasized the addition of collaborators to consolidate an initiative that promotes the active life of seniors.
The Minister of Social Action, Víctor Alonso, detailed that coordination for the new edition of Neuromajo is already underway with the municipalities, with the competition set to begin on October 16th in Caleta de Fuste (Antigua). Alonso underscored the corporate social responsibility that allows for the continuation of an event involving 300 seniors from each municipality, who benefit from the contributions of collaborating companies.
Additionally, the incorporation of the company Dany Sport was announced, which will offer discounts on sports articles for Neuromajo participants.
Besay Rodríguez, representing the Asociación Neurolímpica, expressed his pride in closing agreements with entities such as Spar and Grupo Barceló, recognizing Fuerteventura as a pioneer in this type of action.
