A specialized Biology team has traveled to the town of Tarajalejo to collect samples, set traps, and determine the origin of the mosquito plague affecting the area. The objective is to adopt the necessary measures to eliminate the proliferation source.
Tomás Pérez, the insular director of Health for Fuerteventura, confirmed the activation of this specialized team to the City Council. The Council reported in a statement that relevant actions are being taken to provide a solution.
The mayor of the municipality, David Herrera, indicated that the mosquito's reproduction point has been located. Results from the samples are expected in approximately one month to confirm the species and apply the most effective treatment for eradication.
Herrera announced that, after sample collection, the company responsible for pest control has begun the necessary fumigation and treatment to eliminate the source and prevent future outbreaks. This action responds to resident complaints about bites, some of which caused severe reactions.
