Fuerteventura will host the first edition of the Fuerteventura Drone Summit on October 8th. This specialized congress aims to create a meeting space to discuss the present and future of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), their professional applications, and the new opportunities offered by this growing sector.
Promoted by the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, through the Department of New Technologies and with funding from the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN), the event will take place from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM at the Auditorio Insular de Fuerteventura, located in Puerto del Rosario. The event will be free of charge, requiring prior registration and subject to limited capacity.
Councilor Carmen Alonso highlighted the congress's intention to "generate a technical space where administration, companies, and professionals can share knowledge and jointly address the challenges and opportunities presented by the use of drones." She noted that this technology already has diverse applications and can offer solutions in areas such as emergencies, security, infrastructure, environment, primary sector, and communications.
The program for the Fuerteventura Drone Summit will include presentations and analyses on the possibilities of unmanned aerial systems, with an emphasis on emergency operations and civil protection, technical inspection of infrastructure, environmental monitoring, the primary sector, as well as regulations and the development of U-space airspace. The goal is also to create an insular technical network and improve coordination between administrations and operators.
The event will feature three technical presentations, the participation of four companies, and various interventions on the professional use of drones, in addition to a space for knowledge and experience exchange. It is aimed at professionals in the aeronautical and emergency sectors, technology companies, entrepreneurs, students, and anyone interested in the potential of drones.
Carmen Alonso encouraged participation, emphasizing that the Summit aims to be an entry point for those interested in better understanding the sector and its future possibilities, leveraging the rapid evolution of drone technology in Fuerteventura.
Registration is free and can be completed through the event's official website, fuerteventuradronesummit.com, until capacity is reached.
