Under the slogan 'Explore. Discover. Marvel. The universe awaits you', these free events are aimed at all audiences and seek to spark curiosity about the cosmos through practical activities. The initiative, funded by the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN) and in collaboration with the Tuineje City Council, will offer an immersion into the universe.
The program includes solar and meteor observation, mobile planetarium sessions, astrophotography workshops, and night observations. The Minister of New Technologies, Carmen Alonso, highlights the importance of "bringing science closer to citizens in a different way, making knowledge accessible."
The first event will be held on Tuesday, October 6th, at the Municipal Sports Center of Gran Tarajal. Solar and meteor observation activities will run from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The mobile planetarium will offer hourly sessions in the morning (10:00 AM - 2:00 PM) and afternoon (4:00 PM - 7:00 PM). In the afternoon, there will also be an astrophotography and meteor workshop, and the day will conclude at 9:00 PM with a night observation at Plaza Tran Tran.
On Wednesday, October 14th, the activities will move to Tarajalejo, primarily at the Pedro Sánchez Wrestling Arena. Solar and meteor observation will take place from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The mobile planetarium will have hourly sessions from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The astrophotography and meteor workshop will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and the night observation will begin at 9:00 PM on Las Palmeras Avenue.
Through these free activities, open to all audiences, the Cabildo aims not only to disseminate scientific knowledge but also to highlight the quality of the skies of Fuerteventura.
