A team of 17 workers from the ‘Memoria Viva 2025’ employment plan, promoted by the Department of Employment Promotion of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, is carrying out conditioning and rehabilitation work on various heritage and historical sites across the island. The project, directed by Nuria Cabrera, aims to protect Fuerteventura's memory and identity, foster local employment, boost cultural tourism, and dignify its heritage.
In recent weeks, specific actions have been developed at the Church of Tuineje and the Hermitage of Tiscamanita, where scraping and exterior painting have been carried out. These interventions are part of the objective to condition and rehabilitate public-owned spaces, such as museums, cultural centers, and other historical enclaves.
Work also continues at the Interpretation Center of the Jandía Natural Park, known as the Jandía Lighthouse, focusing on access improvements, restoration of the lighthouse itself, and beautification of its surroundings. Concurrently, projects are underway at Casa Alta de Tindaya, located in the municipality of La Oliva.
This employment plan is co-financed by the Cabildo de Fuerteventura and the Government of the Canary Islands, through resources from the Canary Development Fund (FDCAN). The initiative also benefits from the coordination of Museos de Fuerteventura and the collaboration of local town councils to work on other historical heritage sites on the island.
