Pope Leo XIV's visit to Spain, scheduled from June 6 to 12, will include a significant stop in the Canary Islands archipelago. The Vatican has released the official agenda, detailing the pontiff's commitments in Gran Canaria and Tenerife.
On Thursday, June 11, the Pope will arrive at the Gando air base at 10:50 AM. From there, he will proceed to the port of Arguineguín, where he will meet with organizations involved in migrant reception. At 11:40 AM, he will deliver a speech at this location.
Later that day, at 1:30 PM, the Pope will meet with bishops, priests, deacons, religious, seminarians, and pastoral agents at the Cathedral of Santa Ana in Vegueta. The main event of the day will be a large mass at 6:30 PM at the Estadio de Gran Canaria, where the pontiff will deliver a homily.
After spending the night at the Bishopric of Canarias, on Friday, June 12, the Pope will depart for Tenerife. His plane is scheduled to take off from Gando at 8:30 AM, arriving at Tenerife North-Los Rodeos airport at 9:10 AM. In Tenerife, he will visit the Las Raíces migrant center at 9:30 AM to gain firsthand knowledge of the migration situation.
The agenda in Tenerife will continue with a meeting at 10:10 AM in the Plaza del Cristo de La Laguna, focusing on migrant integration initiatives. Finally, at 12:15 PM, a holy mass will be celebrated at the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, including a homily by the pontiff. The papal plane's departure for Rome from Tenerife North-Los Rodeos is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
