The event, held in Agüimes, has attracted visitors from across the island, who have enjoyed a wide variety of activities. These include meat tastings, product samplings, and various gastronomic exhibitions that showcase the quality of island production.
“"Advancing with the agricultural, livestock, and fishing sectors is in the hands of the citizens; when consumers demand local products and opt for what is grown and produced in Gran Canaria, they are directly contributing to the strengthening of our primary sector."
Emblematic products such as honey, potatoes, coffee, cheeses, wines, and tropical fruits have had a prominent place at the fair. These represent the immense diversity and magnificent quality of the land's products, reflecting the hard work of the men and women of the countryside and the sea in Gran Canaria.
Activities have included tastings of papaya, cheeses, cider, wines, sugar cane, and rum from Gran Canaria. For Sunday, specific breakfast proposals, samples of sea and land products, and commented tastings have been scheduled, offering a journey through the island's agri-food richness.
Locally produced meats have also played a significant role, with butchering demonstrations and tastings of white pork, lamb, goat, rabbit, chicken, and hen from Gran Canaria, including beef and Angus raised on the island.
The fair featured young talents from the island's culinary training centers, who performed gastronomic preparations and demonstrations using local products, connecting tradition with training and professional future. Renowned chefs from the archipelago also offered exhibitions, highlighting local produce as the central element.
A very popular area was the children's section, where gastronomic workshops sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce of Gran Canaria were held. Children learned to cook with island products through participatory dynamics, interactive murals, and blind fruit tastings, promoting healthy eating habits.
