A 12-year-old girl was evacuated in critical condition this Thursday to the Gran Canaria University Hospital, with subsequent admission planned at the Canary Islands University Children's Hospital. The incident occurred at 1:23 PM on Anfi del Mar beach, in the municipality of Mogán, following an incomplete drowning.
The Emergency and Safety Coordinating Center (CECOES 112) received an alert reporting the girl's rescue from the sea, showing evident signs of respiratory distress. Necessary medical resources were immediately activated for her care.
A landing zone was coordinated for the medical helicopter of the Canary Emergency Service (SUC) on the beach itself. Firefighters from the Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium secured the area to facilitate the aerial operation. The SUC also deployed a medicalized ambulance and another basic life support ambulance.
Medical teams attended to the minor at the scene, confirming her serious prognosis before proceeding with the air transfer. Emergency personnel from Mogán Civil Protection, Local Police, and the Civil Guard also participated in the operation.
Civil Guard officers have taken charge of the relevant inquiries to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
