The People's Party of Canarias and the Agrupación de Vecinos (AV) of San Bartolomé de Tirajana have formalized an agreement to jointly contest the upcoming elections under a single political formation.

The integration of the municipalist group into the PP's structure was signed by the president of the PP of Canarias, Manuel Domínguez; the president of the PP of Gran Canaria, Carlos Sánchez; and the president of AV, Marco Aurelio Pérez. The event, held this Saturday before supporters and sympathizers, marks the beginning of a new political era for both organizations.
The aim of this alliance is to establish the PP as the "leading force" in both Gran Canaria and the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, where AV has maintained a significant institutional presence over recent decades. The leaders highlighted the strength of the union, comparing it to the formation of steel from iron and carbon, and emphasized the importance of unified leadership for the municipality's progress.
Manuel Domínguez stressed that this agreement represents the "first stone" towards aiming for the Government of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, reaffirming the commitment to prioritize the well-being of San Bartolomé de Tirajana as a landscape, commercial, historical, and sporting benchmark of the archipelago. He also noted that the project will benefit the entire island and the People's Party.
For his part, Carlos Sánchez highlighted that the alliance, the result of years of cooperation, seeks to position itself as the main political force in the municipality and on the island. He described the day as "a great day" for both formations, joining forces after nearly twenty years of independent trajectories. He welcomed AV members and thanked Marco Aurelio Pérez for his "generosity," describing him as a "key" figure and a "dedicated" mayor.
Marco Aurelio Pérez stated that the objective is to form a "winning team" focused on the growth and proper functioning of Gran Canaria, which he believes positively impacts Spain as a whole. He recalled that, after not being part of the municipal government in the previous term, his party has returned in the current mandate with the challenge of rebuilding San Bartolomé de Tirajana to restore its prosperity from before 2019.
