The decision follows a report received on July 19 regarding a spill of 20 liters of diesel fuel in port waters. The facility's self-protection plan and the Maritime Internal Plan (PIM) were immediately activated in alert phase, deploying containment booms and absorbent devices.
At 09:30 hours today, the PIM was updated to emergency phase 1 due to difficulties in controlling the fuel spill, prompting a request for more resources from the responsible company. Maritime Captaincy also reported the activation of the National Maritime Plan in alert phase since yesterday.
Consequently, the Directorate General of Emergencies has proceeded to activate the Territorial Plan for Civil Protection Emergencies of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands (PLATECA) in a pre-alert situation. The aim is to ensure coordination between administrations and organizations, and to provide the necessary resources for monitoring the situation.
