This recognition, granted by the HU-CI Project and AENOR, validates the efforts made to improve the care experience. The unit has implemented nine strategic lines covering everything from the emotional well-being of patients and families to the continuity of care after discharge.
The multidisciplinary team, consisting of 62 professionals, has integrated comprehensive care measures and shared decision-making. These actions have enabled progress in new therapeutic approaches, consolidating a care model that places people at the center of the healthcare system.
Since its inception in 2000, the unit has treated over 1,250 patients. Currently, falls among people over 60 are the leading cause of admission, followed by traffic accidents and diving incidents, shifting the traditional profile of young patients injured in road accidents.
Technological equipment is another fundamental pillar of the service. Since 2023, the center has been equipped with a robotic exoskeleton, making Canary Islands the third autonomous community to have this cutting-edge technology for physical rehabilitation, alongside other devices such as virtual reality goggles and electrostimulation systems.
