These measures, signed by the Director General of Traffic, Pere Navarro Olivella, aim to ensure safety and smooth travel during the papal visit. Restrictions will primarily affect transport vehicles over 7,500 kilos and those carrying dangerous goods.
In Gran Canaria, limitations will be concentrated on June 11 along sections of the GC-1, GC-3, and GC-31, with specific hours between 08:00 and 21:00. On June 12, the GC-1 will also face restrictions from 06:00 to 09:00.
In Tenerife, restrictions will be in place on June 12, from 06:00 to 18:00, affecting several stretches of the TF-1, TF-2, TF-4, and TF-5 highways.
The resolution also details dynamic traffic closures in Gran Canaria for June 11, including the closure of access ramps and exits from the GC-1, as well as impacts on the GC-31 and GC-3 at various times.
For June 12 in Tenerife, dynamic closures are planned on Camino asfaltado El Matadero and the TF-24. The TF-5 will experience several closures in the decreasing direction, and the TF-13 will also see its traffic affected.
Additionally, roadworks on key routes in both islands will be suspended during the visit days. In Tenerife, the right lane of the TF-4 will be used for authorized vehicle parking.
The DGT warns that these measures may be modified depending on the unfolding events and traffic conditions.
