The environmental association Turcón has urged the Department of Environment of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria to intervene urgently in the Los Cernícalos Ravine for its cleaning and restoration.

Following recent storms, the path through the ravine's channel has become impassable due to accumulated reeds and fallen tree trunks, preventing hikers from passing. Turcón states that this situation leads visitors to create new trails on the slopes, increasing soil erosion and damaging biodiversity.
The environmental organization emphasizes the need for urgent measures to condition the main path, warning that accidents are frequent and the risk of more serious incidents is high. Turcón highlights the ravine's scenic and natural value, a popular spot for hikers of all ages who enjoy its streams, waterfalls, and lush trees.
The Los Cernícalos Ravine, part of the Los Marteles Reserve Natural Space, is approximately 12 kilometers long. It originates in the foothills of the Caldera de Los Marteles and ends its course in the municipality of Telde, dividing Telde and Valsequillo. Turcón appeals to the site's biodiversity value to justify the Cabildo's action.
