The initiative aims to facilitate donation for young people, with the launch of a new edition of the campaign at the campuses of the University of La Laguna (ULL) and the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC). The goal is to bring donation closer to students and encourage their regular participation.
The SCS emphasizes the importance of donating blood regularly, at least twice a year, to maintain adequate reserves to meet the needs of hospitals. Blood is essential for patients requiring transfusions due to surgical procedures, accidents, oncological treatments, and other pathologies.
Due to the October 12th holiday, donor services will be reinforced in Gran Canaria and Tenerife over the weekend. In Tenerife, the mobile unit will be in La Orotava (Calle Carrera de Escultor Estévez, Puente) on Saturday, from 9:45 AM to 1:15 PM, a day that will also include a workshop on blood groups.
In Gran Canaria, the mobile unit will be located at the Las Arenas Shopping Center, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. On Saturday, it will operate from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM and from 3:30 PM to 9:00 PM, and on Sunday from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM.
Fixed donation points in Tenerife include the one in Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Calle Méndez Núñez, 14) on Saturday from 9:15 AM to 2:30 PM, and the one at the San Isidro Health Center in Granadilla de Abona, also on Saturday from 9:15 AM to 2:30 PM.
Hospitals are also providing donation points. The University Hospital Nuestra Señora de Candelaria (Tenerife) allows walk-in donations on Saturday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The University Hospital of the Canary Islands will be operational on Saturday from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM and from 3:30 PM to 8:00 PM, and on Sunday from 8:30 AM to 9:30 PM.
In La Palma, the fixed point at the University Hospital will operate on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and on Sunday from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
The campaign will continue in Tenerife the week of October 13th. In El Rosario, the mobile unit will be at the Plaza del Adelantado in La Esperanza (Tuesday 13th, from 9:15 AM to 1:45 PM and from 4:00 PM to 8:30 PM). In Candelaria, the mobile unit will be located at Rambla de los Menceyes (Wednesday 14th to Saturday 17th).
Other points in Tenerife include the Canary Islands Police Academy in Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Wednesday 14th, from 9:15 AM to 1:30 PM), and the donation room at the El Trompo Commercial Center in La Orotava (Tuesday 13th to Friday 16th, from 4:15 PM to 8:30 PM).
The ULL university campaign will begin on Tuesday, October 13th, at the Central Campus and the School of Nursing (Blood Bank of the University Hospital Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria), running until November 11th.
In Gran Canaria, the university campaign will take place at the Tafira Campus (Faculty of Economics, Business, and Tourism) on October 13th and 14th, and at the Obelisco Campus (Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences) on October 13th, 14th, and 15th.
On Friday, October 16th, there will be mobile donation points in Santa Lucía de Tirajana (Civil Guard barracks and Avenida de Canarias) and in Telde (Alcampo Shopping Center). Also in Gáldar (Canarian Wrestling Club Unión Gáldar).
In Fuerteventura, the Las Rotondas Shopping Center in Puerto del Rosario will host donations on Tuesday and Wednesday (3:30 PM-8:30 PM) and Thursday and Friday (8:30 AM-1:30 PM). The General Hospital of Fuerteventura maintains its fixed point throughout the week.
In Lanzarote, the fixed point is at the University Hospital Doctor José Molina Orosa (Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM-1:00 PM). In La Palma, the University Hospital has a fixed point with extended hours from Monday to Sunday.
La Gomera offers donations at the Hospital Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe (Monday to Wednesday, 11:00 AM-1:00 PM; Thursday and Friday, 9:00 AM-1:00 PM). In El Hierro, the Hospital Nuestra Señora de los Reyes has a fixed point on Mondays (10:00 AM-12:30 PM).
