The La Guancha Public Library has expanded its collection with 123 new titles for adult, youth, and children's audiences, thanks to a grant from the Cabildo de Tenerife.

The La Guancha Public Library continues to strengthen its bibliographic collection with the addition of 123 new titles. These acquisitions, covering a wide variety of genres and themes, are aimed at readers of all ages: adults, young people, and children.
The total investment amounts to 1,816.24 euros and was made possible by a grant from the Island Department of Culture, Museums, and Sports of the Cabildo de Tenerife. This aid comes from the subsidy call for island municipalities to equip central public municipal libraries with bibliographic and audiovisual collections, corresponding to the 2025 fiscal year.
The main objective of this subsidy line is to finance the acquisition of bibliographic and audiovisual material, ensuring that central municipal public libraries have updated and renewed collections. This contributes to guaranteeing the quality of the public service these centers offer and maintaining diverse collections in various formats.
Thanks to this funding, the catalog of the La Guancha library is enriched with proposals from genres such as narrative, comics, theater, poetry, and history. The inclusion of works by Canarian authors and titles suitable for different age groups is noteworthy.
This expansion of funds coincides with a significant year for the library, which in 2026 celebrated its 50th anniversary. Half a century dedicated to promoting reading, access to culture, and knowledge in the municipality.
The delegate councilor for Libraries, Jésica González, highlighted the importance of this new acquisition. "This year we have celebrated half a century of trajectory, and that reminds us of the importance the library has had and continues to have for our town," she stated. "With these new funds, we want to continue looking towards the future, offering a vibrant, diverse library adapted to everyone's interests."
The library's usual opening hours are Monday to Friday, from 09:00 to 13:00 and from 17:00 to 19:00. Exceptionally, during the coming months, it will be closed every Tuesday and the last Thursday of each month. The central municipal library is located on the ground floor of the IES La Guancha.
