Devotion to the Rosary is an intrinsic part of La Guancha's history, reflected in historical documents that show its deep roots among the town's residents, who even had chapels dedicated to it in their homes. This tradition is kept alive, forming part of the municipality's religious and cultural heritage thanks to the annual commitment of those who organize it.
The La Naval Cultural Association and the parish of El Dulce Nombre de Jesús, with the support of the La Guancha City Council, ensure the continuity of the events honoring the Virgen del Rosario. The inaugural day, this Wednesday, October 7 at 6:30 PM in the Church of El Dulce Nombre de Jesús, will begin with a mass officiated by the local priest, Fabián Luis, accompanied musically by the parranda El Perenkén Guanchero.
Following the Eucharist, the XXXI Poetry Recital will take place, with the participation of the Uni-Verso Poets Association. The program will continue on October 8 and 9 with communal prayer of the Holy Rosary and Eucharist at 5:30 PM. On Saturday, October 10, at 6:00 PM, a solemn Eucharist will be held with the choir San Andrés y Santa Mónica de Los Realejos.
The festival will culminate with the parade of the La Esperanza Musical Group from the Ángeles Machado square to the Church, followed by the procession of the Virgen del Rosario along its usual route. Afterwards, the square will host the traditional allegorical act of the Battle of Lepanto, which this year includes as a novelty the theatricalization of the "Battle of the Ships" by the company Sol y Sombra.
