This agreement aims to strengthen public services in La Gomera, with a particular focus on care for the elderly, functional diversity, minors, and those requiring specialized sociosanitary support. The island's council president, Casimiro Curbelo, emphasized the importance of continuous training to ensure high-quality care adapted to evolving social needs.
Curbelo highlighted that investing in professional teams' training directly contributes to citizen well-being and the improvement of public resources on the island. Meanwhile, the director of ESSSCAN, José Francisco Montelongo, praised the institutional collaboration for enhancing the quality of public services through staff training.
The agreement includes the joint organization of training activities in areas such as sociosanitary care, humanization of care, mental health, prevention of burnout syndrome, communication with dependent individuals, palliative care, nutrition, dementia care, mobility, and fall prevention, as well as nursing care, among others.
ESSSCAN will be responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering the training, as well as managing registrations and certifications. The Cabildo will collaborate in dissemination, facilitate staff participation, finance the activities, and may provide island facilities for their development.
The planned program encompasses general training, specific actions for functional diversity, training for the elderly and minors, team leadership, promotion of personal autonomy, restraint-free care, mental health and burnout prevention, palliative care and emotional support, Alzheimer's and other dementias, pressure ulcer prevention and treatment, ostomy care, sexual and affective education, and intervention in youth violence situations.
